Your other option is to reboot using the XP install CD, and have the floppy disk w/ the raid drivers handy; press F6 during the CD boot to cause it to read the drivers from the floppy, then use the RECOVERY CONSOLE to check the disk/array. I would suppose from your answer that SCSI ID 0 might be RAID 0 (which is in fact not RAID at all) and this would be the boot partition and SCSI ID 1, 2, Adaptec has posted XP drivers for this RAID adapter but I don't know exactly what they do, after all the setup stopped after I pressed F6 to load the drivers

You do not normally need a conventional hard drive to use Windows in a RAID system as long as the proper drivers are supplied by your RAID OEM.
