During the installer start-up, I press F6 and load the RAID drivers from diskette, however the installer will not see the RAID partition. I've downloaded the latest drivers from Intel's site. No go. I've updated the BIOS with the latest release (P21). No go. Any thoughts are most appreciated! Thanks. /Pete/

XP and Crashes .......
(Raid 5 - 5GB netto). When I ran the 3 NT startup floppies (made with WINNT /OX by the way from the /i386 subdir on the CD) I did *not* use [F6] to jump out of the setup process for loading an OEM adapter driver. The Passplay was detected as "Mylex DAC960" by the NT hardware check - and that was it.

All the devices in device manager are reported to be OK. but there is no 82801ER SATA RAID Controller listed. F6 key not recognized during XP64 install of RAID host drivers
The bios sees the RAID 1 configuration but when I boot the Small Business Server 2003 CD, it does not see the drives. When I prompt it to search for the Manufacturer's CD, it will only look to the floppy drive. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Chuck You need to get the driver on a floppy to use the F6 option.

RAID array fine until one day...
I have not used the Raid Controller on this type of system but I have on others and the same applies with them. The drivers are not native to the NT4.0 Install and therefore they have no way find your disks unless you pre-load the drivers. On one system I had to press F6 when the the very first blue Setup screen

F6 for SCSI or RAID ? (ie it's not to do with SATA or IDE ?) + ...
I boot off the WinXP Pro CD and press F6 to let it know I want it to load the Promise ATA100 RAID drivers from the floppy. When it goes to start the installation it gives a message saying that it doesn't detect any hard drives. It does the same exact thing booting off of a Win2k Pro CD loading the driviers. Trevor.

New XP install does not recognize RAID drives
I wanted to switch to RAID ready mode with this one drive so I can add a second drive to create a RAID 1 configuration. I used Drive Image 7 to backup the full drive. I tried the WIN/XP Repair with the F6 option but it failed after it erased some files and failed stating that it could NOT create aC:\Windows

Bob Knowlden nk...@comcast.net alt comp periphs mainboard asus If you're using the SATA controllers on the board (not the Promise ones), and you're not using RAID, you don't need to install any additional drivers. After hitting enter at that point, we get the message "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer". -----Original Message----- This might be a silly question, but did you take the F6 option during NT installation to setup your RAID? The system did not respond to Ctrl-Alt-Del. Keyboard indicator lights would not even toggle when I pressed CapsLock, ScrollLock, or NumLock. I tried to reinstall Windows (repair) but after F6 and loading the RAID drivers the system hung again when scanning the HD. I unplugged the second mirrored drive and W2k3

Is it HighPoint, is it Seagate, or is it Windows 2000 Professional
When the setup does not find a hard drive, it displays "If you have a RAID array or other storage device, place a floppy disk containing the drivers in the A: drive and press F6". I do, having, as the aBit instructions say, copied the Highpoint 'Hotrod' drivers for Windows 2000 on the floppy.

Much better to present all the information than bits! ;-) SATA1: WD 120GB SATA HDD (Boot drive) SATA2: None When I installed W2K, I did NOT initially set the ICH5R controller to RAID mode, nor did I use F6 to install the Intel RAID driver (I did install the SI driver via F6). I carry all So, the "F6" drivers you're referring to are called what on the Intel site? Do I look for ICH5 drivers? You would be looking for drivers for the Intel raid controller. I am not exactly sure what the nomenclature is on their web site but I had no problem finding the drivers there.

You will, however, still need a floppy with the driver for the EIDE daughtercard controller and be sure to hit F6 at the very start of the install; otherwise, If you're not using RAID, I'd try moving the hard drives off the RAID ports and put them on the first 2 (non-RAID) IDE ports on the motherboard. --

If you have nothing but Win9x clients, this is not so big an issue. If you reinstall SBS from scratch, it's typical to export the Exchange mailboxes to . you will see a prompt that tells you to "Press F6 if you have a bootable device driver to load". Typically, with a RAID controller, you must do this.

Can't install RAID drivers from CD after hitting F6?
I have prepared a floppy using the "makedisk" file within the chipset folder, on the Asus Support CD, in readiness, but the F6 command doesn't do anything. That's where your second error was: you are then supposed to put in the disk with the driver for the RAID controller - NOT the chipset driver.

DNS and AD probably are not happy without a good working nic. I had a nic Friday that lit up on the workstation but not on the hub. I tried another position on the hub At the very beginning you need to mash the F6 to load your hardware Raid 5 controller software. After the 2000 server setup I did it Dell's way.
